What We Collect

Push To Talk is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:

  • Callsign: The display name you choose when joining a channel. We do not store this long-term on the service after you disconnect (it is remembered via a browser cookie for your convenience).
  • Audio: Voice data is transmitted peer-to-peer using WebRTC. We do not record, store, or have access to your audio communications. All WebRTC transmissions are encrypted.
  • Usage: Which channel you join is used only for real-time routing and is not logged.

What We Don't Collect

  • We don't require account registration
  • We don't use cookies for tracking
  • We don't collect personal information - if you want privacy, choose a non-identifying callsign
  • We don't sell or share any data
  • We don't record or store your voice communications

Peer-to-Peer Communication

Audio is transmitted directly between users using WebRTC technology. Our signaling server only facilitates the initial connection handshake. Once connected, audio flows directly between participants without passing through our servers.

Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (theme selection, microphone choice). This data never leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

We use Google's public STUN servers to help establish peer-to-peer connections. These servers see only connection metadata, not audio content.
